Saab diagnosed a faulty throttle position sensor in the throttle

| Repair: | The left link replacement eliminated clunking in the
left, but it still continued from the right. The service advisor at
Thornhill

at the time of new strut installation, and agreed to cover the
labour to replace the second link.

|
| Problem: | The front end developed a clunking sound over
bumps. I was hoping the suspension upgrade would cure that, but it
did not. | | Repair: | The left link of the front anti-roll bar was
causing the problem. One of the ball joints on the link wore
out so the link became loose. Installed a new link (part from
Thornhill
Saab).

| Problem: | The spring clip securing the actuator rod on the
wastegate arm got lost, causing the rod to slip from the arm and
hang freely. The wastegate remained fully open, no boost observed.
| | Repair: | Reattached the rod, installed a new clip (donated by
Thornhill
Saab). |
| |
|
|
| Problem: | The plastic shield protecting the engine and the
serpentine belt from underneath cracked in the middle and became
split into six pieces. The central part fell out, while the
corners remaned fastened with their bolts. | | Repair: | Installed a new shield (part from
Thornhill
Saab). |
| |
|
|
| Maintenance: | The front oxygen sensor caused the "Check
engine" light several times during the winter with the error code
of "Front O2 sensor slow to respond". Car was running fine, but it
seemed like a good idea to replace the old sensor. Installed a
new Bosch sensor (part from
The Saab Site). |

| Problem: | Vibration at a steady speed at 120+ km/h,
worse vibration when braking from this speed.
(See the entry from 14.08.2003.) | | Resolution: | Front rotor replacement advised.
The problem is blamed on the weakened integrity of the
cross-drilled rotors, abrasive pads and unevenly torqued
wheel nuts. Plus the driving style and weather conditions.
| | Complaint: | A waste of time and money. Although the
suggested rotor replacement would obviously cure the vibration when
braking, nothing is done about the wheel vibration at highway
speed. No wheel or suspension check has been performed.

| Problem: | The battery has lost the power and only held the
charge for half a day at best after an hour of driving. | | Repair: | Measured the battery voltage at 9V, charge
voltage at 13.5V. Checked for parasite draws when the car is off,
nothing detected. Installed a new Interstate battery. |
